The views you get behind the scenes of the Joan Sutherland Theatre and the Concert Music Hall are great. You're in the orchestra pit and in the wings they can't get you any closer. Our guide, Kenny, was the BEST. This was one of the things we scheduled that we felt was entirely worth the time and the money.
It starts AWFULLY early in the morning when you're on vacation!!, but it's definitely worth it. The included breakfast we expected would be a roll and some coffee. You actually had several choices, including a full eggs, bacon, toast, juice, coffee. And you dine in the green room where the musicians and technicians meet and dine before, during, and after work.
Very interesting and up close. Just a tip, nothing to do with the tour....we wish we had seen a show at the Opera House...on the tour, our guide said tickets are usually available.
This tour starts early, but is one not to be missed. Excellent!!!!
Excellent tour guide made an interesting tour even better. Breakfast in the Green Room was very good.
This is one of the best tours I have been on. Alex, our guide, was engaging, funny, and knowledgeable. The Sydney Opera House is truly and amazing place.
As a musician, this was a great tour for me. I loved every minute and saw parts of the opera house most people never see. Very glad we did it, even if we did have to get up at 5 in the morning, but the breakfast made up for the early rising.
Collin was awesome guide. Really interesting stories access to places the public would never go and done amazing views. Definitely better than the regular tour
What a fantastic tour! You'll definitely want to do a backstage tour if you've ever had the desire to visit the Sydney Opera House. You'll be treated to an eye opening experience and will enjoy private access to some amazing spaces in this complex.
If you do any tour in Sydney this is the one to experience. Can not say enough it was incredible

This trip was very nice because it is small and you really can ask detailed questions about almost everything in the opera house. The house itself is interesting - it's not historic or full of stories but it is still iconic of Sydney and Australia. The guide was good because he really is trained in the field of tourism and education. In other opera house tours I've had, people are often volunteers who know mostly info from a script and perhaps once in a while personal experience. Our guide really knew his stuff. On my tour, I was with a mother and her daughter who was in school for the arts. When we walked on one of the empty stages, her mom really wanted her to have had a chance to sing. Our guide was super nice and said go for it.
The only thing you need to know about this trip is that it is super early. It's a good thing to do perhaps if you have an afternoon flight to catch. There is a breakfast included which was nice. The price is a bit expensive for an opera house tour but I would just think that a big part of your ticket price goes to the opera house as a donation to the arts.
This tour was excellent despite the early start. We were split into two small groups and the tour was leisurely and we learnt so much about the workings of the Opera House. The breakfast at the end was superb and the souvenir book you could purchase was worth the money. A lot of stair climbing so not for those with problems.
The tour was very, very good and the guide, Collin had a great wit and easily talked about behind the scenes as if it was the most important visit you can make to the opera house. We felt very honored to see behind the scene areas for the performers and cast of the performances. I would recommend it to any person who will be seeing a performance at the Sydney Opera House. Great tour!!
Truly an absolutely incredible and informative tour! The group is very small and the guide has been leading the tour for years... was wonderful! Thank you.....
Absolutely fantastic. Especially if you are a theater nerd. We got to go backstage, on stage, above the stage, below the stage, in the dressing rooms, the green room.... you name it! I even got to sit at the piano in the dressing room that Prince used just weeks before he died. The breakfast was excellent. I got a 30 discount on a ticket purchase for the play Talk that night for having been a part of the tour. I can't recommend it enough. Worth the early start!
Loved this visit despite the very early start. Would highly recommend a backstage visit the opera house. Lots of stairs so you must be mobile.
Very good tour, very interesting behind the scenes. Also good breakfast.
We saw it all! Full coverage of every venue at the opera house from the catwalks and lighting to the stages themselves and the orchestra pits. Went through the regular and star dressing rooms and had breakfast in the green room. Heard great stories from past events. If you have the chance do it soon as they are beginning renovations and areas may be closed off for a while.
Worth the early start, well you will probably be awake anyway !! So interesting to see the backstage and how it all works. Breakfast was good too. Leaves you the rest of the day to fit in something else too.

Absolutely brilliant! If you're in Sydney and have the slightest interest in theatre, make sure you take this tour. It's an early start, but a great breakfast when you're through. Our guide was very knowledgeable and took us though all the rehearsal and performance spaces as well as giving a history of the Opera House. A must see when in Sydney!
I thought the whole experience was very worthwhile. Initially I was aghast at waking up so early, but once we got started, that annoyance was abated. The guide was informative and thus made the tour enjoyable. I have thus recommended it to a few people since then as a must see.
This tour was wonderful. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and seemed to love her job. There was quite a bit of walking and many steps. Overall, we were able to see parts of the theater that aren and #39;t open to the public.
