What You Can Expect

Small-Group Blue Mountains Day Trip from Sydney with River Cruise

Three Sisters, Blue Mountains

After morning pickup in Sydney, enjoy the scenic drive to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains National Park.

Stretch your legs and meet amazing native Australian animals during a stop at Featherdale Wildlife Park. You might like to hand-feed the kangaroos and emus, or have your photo taken with a Koala. Plus. Be sure to bring your camera for great photo opportunities!

Once you reach the Blue Mountains, stop at Echo Point to admire one of the Blue Mountains’ most heralded sights: the Three Sisters. Your guide explains local lore about this sculptural rock formation, which sits above the picturesque Jamison Valley. Next up, a nature hike to stunning Wentworth Falls. Then choose from several tour options at Scenic World (own expense). You might ride the rails or take to the air in a gondola to view the rainforest and valleys of the Blue Mountains.

Expect a break for lunch in Katoomba, a charming village in the Blue Mountains. You can either bring your own picnic or stop into one of the town’s fine cafes to purchase your lunch. Throughout the day, your guide provides informative commentary about the sights along with time for photo ops and rest stops.

As your small group-tour heads back towards Sydney in the afternoon, stop at Olympic Park, where the Olympic Games were held in the year 2000. Then hop on board a comfortable boat and glide along the Parramatta River. Take in the waterfront homes and lush greenery as you cruise back to the city. Once you pass under Sydney Harbour Bridge, it’s not long before your boat docks at Circular Quay where your full-day Blue Mountains tour ends.

Lovely day out. Small group meant we were able to get around to observation points that would otherwise have been difficult, but dont miss out on the opportunity to ride the cable cars and the mountain railway, which incurs an extra charge, as this made our day complete as did the cruise back to circular quay. Id definitely recommend this!

Fantastic day in the blue Mountains. Our driver Mark was informative, friendly and helpful. He showed us some fantastic sights of the mountains from different lookouts. The cable cars were amazing, also the steep train ride, well worth doing it even though I was terrified!!!! We paid extra on the day for the experience. He was very knowledgable about the area. We also had a trip to Featherdale wildlife park, you certainly can get up close to the animals there. All finished off with a river cruise. We certainly had a wonderful day. I would definitely recommend the small group trip.

We took this trip with Mark of Activity Tours. We were a group of 12. All pickups were on time and we made good time to our various stops. We were one of the first groups to arrive at the Featherdale Animal Park so got good views of the native animals. Nice to see Skippy and her mates! We then visited a lookout over the Jamieson valley for some great views over the eucalyptus forest below. Following that we were given the option to go to a cable car lookout where we would have had to pay additional fees to see another view of the same valley and the Three Sisters or visit other valleys. Thankfully we all opted to see 3 other valleys in the area. Mark was a great guide who also enjoyed getting away from the tourists and showing us less known sights. He had those willing do a small trek down a side path to get another view. Beats sitting in a bus all day with no exercise! We had our lunch in a quiet village in the Blue Mountains, at our expense, before getting time to see the Three Sisters. It was nice to see because it is what tourists come for but it was better to have been able to see other views tourists on these tours do not usually get to see. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and we highly recommend this trip - without the cable car ride and with the addition of 3 more valleys!
Well worth the price of admission!

The Blue Mountains to the west of Sydney offer some truly lovely vistas. This tour was also an opportunity for us to get out of the city and experience a little bit of small town Australia. On the way back into Sydney, we stopped to see the Olympic Complex, and we ended the tour with a short boat ride into Sydney Harbor. The tour helped us to round out our Australia experience in a time-efficient manner. We also learned about the Wollemi Pine Trees on this tour. We then made a point of seeing these ancient, rare, nearly extinct trees in the Royal Botanical Gardens in both Sydney and Melbourne.
