Overview

Kayak and snorkel in St Thomas' Mangrove Lagoon on a 2.5-hour shore excursion. The region's serpentine channels of clear, calm water are perfect for swimming, boating and spotting local wildlife like stingrays and brown pelicans. Learn about the region's natural resources from your local adventure guide, and opt to extend your tour with a hike on Cas Cay, a deserted island.
  • Kayak through the unique surroundings of St. Thomas' Mangrove Lagoon
  • Marvel at the beautiful flora and fauna
  • Snorkel in the crystal-clear waters and learn about the diverse mangrove ecosystem
Make your way to the southern coast of St Thomas, home to the protected Mangrove Lagoon Wildlife Sanctuary and Marine Preserve. Meet your local adventure guide to embark on one of St Thomas' most rewarding snorkeling and kayaking tours in the preserve's rich ecosystem.

Travel through the protected area to Patricia Cay and Long Point, where you'll board your kayak to glide through the may small islands in the mangrove lagoon. While paddling, look out for spotted rays and stingrays as they glide beneath your boat.

Put on your provided snorkel gear and explore the underwater world. Follow your guide's lead and feel free to ask any questions or directions, especially if it's your first time snorkeling. Peer through your mask at the coral-fringed mangrove roots and listen as your guide points out the vibrant surrounding marine life. Hop back in your kayak for the short paddle back to the marina.

This tour was fantastic. We couldn’t ask for a better guide. There were 8 in our group and everyone one of us agreed this excursion was the best thing we did all week. I highly recommend this for anyone visiting St. Thomas

TOTALLY worth doing this eco tour!! Our guide, Katy was wonderful!!! Such a spirited down-to-earth young woman. We loved her, and the tour was SO fun. Katy taught us a lot about the eco system there, and was able to show us many of the animals and plants.
We saw and raced hermit crabs, we handled sea urchins, upside down jellyfish and even a sea cucumber! So cool.
The kayaking was fun, and the hike along the beach was enjoyable and educational.
She was amazing!!! We loved Katy and highly recommend her! THANK YOU Katy!!
And the only negative was that she was TRYING to break in a new gal, Kim I think and she would have to leave our group to go rescue her! She seemed to have NO experience in kayaking!
It took away from our fun, and time with Katy. But guess it was a request from her boss to try her out. Wrong position for KIM!!

Very friendly staff, absolutely customized tour, adjusted to customers abilities, very interesting information. Facility has changing rooms, bathrooms, all supplies if you forgot them, and they can call taxi for pick up.

Great excursion! If you are in St. Thomas and have the time to spare then do yourself a favor and book this excursion. The staff were so sweet and professional. Experience level does not matter here because they will go over the basics with you and you can kayak a your own pace, so don't feel intimidated if you are a beginner or bringing small children along. The trip is 2.5 hours, but most of the time is spent in the water so the kayak portion is not exhausting. We were able to kayak to several different locations on our trip and were also able to snorkel in different areas. Our guide, Kristen, told us a lot of facts about the area and it's natural wildlife which made the trip even better. Seriously only have good things to say about this place, so give it a try if you get the chance.

Tour guide was great but really not much to see. Mangroves are nondescript, no wildlife at al not even birds, snorkeling was below par, just rent a kayak and go on your own if that is the case, no need for a guide. Better yet skip this one!

It was a good trip, but it should not be high on your priority list. There are much more fun things to do in the islands then this generic tour.

It was an incredible time, and the tour guide was awesome! His name is Yosh, and he was very informative and friendly. We were his only customers as we went on the early tour, best time to go!!! so there were no cruise ships in yet. The afternoon tour had a lot of people on it, so I was happy that we chose early in the am. I would do it again and again as there is plenty to see.

Good experience for the whole family. Only suggestion is not to buy tickets in advance by more than a few days. Things happen and then you are out the money.

Yosh was our tour guide. He was great and take his time with us. Doesn't matter if the group was big or small, VI Ecotour honor their service. If you have little kids, no experience on kayak, swimming or snorkeling then this is definitely a good tour for you. I thought it would not work out for us but VI Ecotour proved us wrong. We had so much fun that when we went back to our hotel, we booked more tours. Thanks Yosh!!!

So much fun! This was worth every penny! The guides were so passionate about everything they talked about and you left this trip with so much more knowledge than when you arrived.
