This was a fun class. The two other people scheduled for the tour didn't show up, so it was just the two people in my booking. What could have been awkward ended up being very fun. The strudel recipe we followed was super simple, and our instructor gave some tips on how we could also cook other things, such as meat, using the same dough.

Hands down, this was my favorite experience in Salzburg. It might even be my favorite thing we did on this entire trip through Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, and the Czech Republic. Not only did we learn to make two amazing deserts in a little over an hour, but our incredible chef, Johann, made us a delicious goulash lunch to go with them. The cooking school is set in to the side of the Monchsberg mountain, which only adds to the experience. Johann demonstrated and told us more about the technique required to make the strudel dough, then we were able to make our own! Once we popped our strudel in the oven, we made the Salzburg Nockerl, a Salzburg specific dessert. Definitely don't miss this apple strudel class. I would take more classes from Johann if we go back because he's very patient and I learned a lot.

The group was small enough to get excellent attention from the instructors. We made apple strudel and then half an hour later ate it together and it was delicious. For a few euro extra you can buy a recipe book with traditional Austrian dishes, which is also highly recommended. The lesson itself was inside a converted cave, very atmospheric!

Amazing class with a delicious outcome. Johann was a great instructor, who provided clear and helpful instructions as well as some interesting historic context on the strudel and Nockerl we made. This is a great way to experience a more personal, unique, and hands-on side to the city of Salzburg highly recommend! :
