Your foodie adventure kicks off with a 9am pick-up from your central Rouen hotel by private vehicle. Start with a tour of Rouen, visiting some of the city’s best delicatessens, patisseries, and artisan food stores. Along the way, learn more about Normandy specialties like apple tart, Camembert cheese, and oysters, and follow your guide’s recommendations to purchase some edible souvenirs (optional).
Then, soak up the scenery as you drive through the green slopes and pretty villages of the Pays d'Auge region, stopping along the way to admire the grand gothic façade of Lisieux Cathedral, and passing the National Stud, where Normandy’s famous racehorses are bred. Your guide will then take you to one of the region’s best restaurants, awarded 2 Michelin stars, where you can treat yourself to an indulgent lunch (own expense) of regional cuisine paired with fine French wines.
After lunch, sate your appetite with a traditional French ‘digestif’ during a visit to a cider distillery. Discover more about the region’s most famous tipple as you tour the distillery, then taste Normandy’s signature apple brandy, Calvados.
Make sure you’ve saved some room for the cheese course, because the next stop is at a renowned Pays d'Auge cheese maker, where you’ll get to sample regional cheeses such as Pont L'évèque.
There’s just time for one more stop, at the coastal town of Honfleur, renowned for its popularity with impressionist painter Eugène Boudin and composer Erik Satie. After admiring the views and snapping photos of the colorful houses along the waterfront, head back to Rouen, where your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.
