Discover the Vatican on a 3-hour St Peter’s Basilica, Sistine Chapel and Vatican Museums tour. Navigate the vast complex of rooms, artwork and history with a guide, who will bring the ancient collection to life. Skip all the entrance lines to explore halls such as the Gallery of the Maps and Raphael’s Rooms; step inside the Sistine Chapel to admire ‘The Creation of Adam’ by Michelangelo’; and hear little-known tales about sacred St Peter’s Basilica. Choose from several departures, or upgrade to an evening experience or small-group tour with 12 people.
  • Enjoy a skip-the-line Vatican tour including the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s Basilica
  • See captivating sites like Raphael’s Rooms, Gallery of the Maps and Bramante’s Pinecone Courtyard
  • Visit the Sistine Chapel to see Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam ceiling fresco
  • Explore St Peter’s Basilica on a fully guided Vatican walking tour and see the famous La Pieta sculpture
  • Choose from four different times, or upgrade to a small-group tour (maximum 12)
Vatican tours with skip-the-line access are sought-after, so even the fast-track lines are long. This experience includes admission through a special entrance, so there are no lines whatsoever. Follow your guide directly inside the vast collection of private artwork that is the Vatican Museums.

Walk through the Gallery of the Maps and Gallery of Tapestries as you listen to tales of Vatican intrigue. Gaze at artifacts such as timeworn yet fascinating Italian maps, and admire the sculptures and candelabras of the Gallery of Candelabras. Stop for photos in front of the Pigna statue in the Pinecone Courtyard, designed by Dontao Bramante.

Raphael’s Rooms are a series of galleries that highlight the talent of the lauded Renaissance artist himself. Pass through the rooms, and then step inside the Sistine Chapel — the pope’s personal place of worship and a highlight of any Vatican trip. Stand beneath Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam, which cloaks the ceiling, and admire The Last Judgement, his colorful mural that adorns a wall.

After your Sistine Chapel visit, continue to St Peter’s Basilica, the symbolic heart of the Catholic church. Learn about its history and see more Vatican art including Michelangelo’s La Pietà, which was sculpted when the maestro was only 24 years old. Gaze at the baldachino by Bernini, and then say goodbye to your guide in St Peter’s Square.

Keep in mind that St Peter's Basilica and St Peter's Square might be unavailable on Wednesdays due to the weekly Papal Audience. As an alternative, you'll be offered an extended itinerary within the Vatican Museums, which still includes the Sistine Chapel and Raphael's Rooms. If you want to make sure that St Peter's Basilica and Square are included in your tour, don't select Wednesday as your travel date.

If you want to enhance your Vatican experience, select one of the following experiences:

Small-Group Tour at 8:10am:
Enter the Vatican Museums as soon as it opens, before the other lines enter. Your tour is limited to 12 people for personal attention and information about the Vatican’s must-see sights.

Tour at 7:30pm:
Explore the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel after the doors close to the general public. A visit to St Peter’s Basilica is not included.

The tour was even better than advertized. Our tour guide was easy to understand, very professional and very entertaining.

This was definitely worth doing. The skip the line option was great, because the lines were long! We met our guide across the street from the museum entrance and she took us straight in to the place. She got our tickets and we went through security all in about 10-15 minutes. She was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot more information than we would have gotten on our own. I wish I could remember her name, but we had such a busy week. I highly recommend taking this tour as your way to see the Vatican.

Alexandro was outstanding. His immense knowledge, subtle humor and patience made this visit worthwhile despite the HUGE crowds. Thank you

Enlightening day! We had a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable about the Vatican and Sistine chapel

The Vatican is a must see but recommend doing it on your own or a smaller group. We were a group of 21 and listened to all the info via head sets. Hard to hear and definitely hard to engage. Felt myself zoning out at times. The Vatican is beautiful and a must see but better tour options are available than this I am certain.

Only the day prior to the tour we booked this tour through Viator. and what a great tour. The guide was excellent. the directions were easy to follow, and the length was about perfect. we learned so much history and saw so many historical paintings and sights. the guide was a young woman who seemed to sense every need before we knew we needed it. she was thorough and clear in her English. it could not have been better and we would highly recommend it.

Georgia was a fantastic guide, any group that has her is very lucky! She was passionate, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable!

Do yourself and favor and book this tour ahead of your trip. Skipping the lines is essential, otherwise you'll stand in line for hours waiting to get in. And if it's hot, it's no fun. It is very crowded in and around the Vatican, but we were inside within 15 min with this tour. There is a lot to see and a guide is super helpful to know what to focus on. If you have time, I also suggest doing some homework before you go and research especially the Sistene Chapel so you know what you are looking at. Even with our guide, Christian with City Wonders Ltd, who took a lot of time to explain what we would see including the history etc. it's hard to really grasp it all without some prior knowledge. Highly recommended!!

Again, a wonderful guide! Edy really made the tour interesting and enjoyable. He was polite and courteous while on tour, making sure his 'flag' was not held high when we were at photo opportunities (unlike other tour leaders).

I highly recommend that you book this tour! First of all, the line to get into the Vatican Museum is incredibly long. You’ll waste the day waiting in this line if you try to get in by yourself. By booking a tour with front-of-the-Line you’ll get right in. My tour guide was Annalisa and she’s wonderful!! A native Italian who speaks great English and is highly knowledgeable about the history of the sites. My only critique is that at times I felt rushed through some of the attractions but it’s still totally worth it (and she will give you time to take in the Sistine Chapel which is the most important.)
