Travel by luxury minibus through a volcanic landscape along the south coast of Iceland. You’ll see the magnificent waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, the black-sand beaches of Reynisfjara, and the breathtaking Sólheimajökull glacier on this day trip from Reykjavik. Spot puffins, if you’re lucky, and get a look at Eyjafjallajökull volcano, which erupted in 2010. Round-trip hotel transport is provided.
After hotel pickup in Reykjavík in the morning, board your Mercedes Benz Sprinter — a luxury minibus equipped with complimentary Wi-Fi. Meet your experienced guide who will share information about each location you visit during this full-day itinerary along Iceland’s stunning south coast.
This scenic trip includes a stop at two waterfalls, Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss. Snap photos of Sólheimajökull glacier and Eyjafjallajökull volcano, and search for puffins along the black-sand beaches of Reynisfjara.
En route, get a taste of traditional Icelandic snacks: smoked lamb on flatbread accompanied by a typical beverage. There will also be a stop for lunch before drop-off back at your hotel.
Our guide, Giusti (spelling ?), was very good. In addition to showing us the sites on the South Coast, he also provided a great deal of information about living in Iceland. It was a very worthwhile tour.
We visited the Golden Circle and the Blue Lagoon with our Viking extension after a cruise up Norway's coast. Reading other reviews I realized that it wasn't enough. We booked this South Coast Full Day Tour from Reykjavik and are we glad we did. We felt this was more interesting than the Golden Circle but it is a longer ride. Our guide provided a lot of information while we drove. This may be hard with small children due to the time in the van and the subject matter of the information. We enjoyed it and found it informative.
Magnus was a fabulous guide. We spent the day learning about the landscape, the people, the economy. He gave us ample time at our stops, and fed us a unique lamb treat and a local beverage. I thoroughly enjoyed the day. Definitely take this trip.
Amazing tour guide Kevin made this a fantastic experience - packing in so many sights with an interesting, informative narrative.
Your Day Tours was extremely efficient and well-organized. We recommend this tour and this company. Our guide, Kevin, was very interesting and entertaining, while providing cultural, historical and other information during the tour. The sights were breathtaking and spectacular. The added touch of providing Icelandic music and simple tastes of Icelandic snacks provided a well-rounded experience. Highly recommended this tour!
We enjoyed from beginning to end. We had fun and learned a lot about Iceland. Thank you for a great day.
The scenery was awesome and just the right about of time at each stop. Our guide (Magnus sp?) was great on the history and culture of Iceland and was very responsive to questions from the group. Our stops were well timed and the scenery was awesome.
I loved everything about this tour. The information, the sstops, the staff. The best touch was listening to music on the bus. They played music played by Islandic musicians.
Siggy, our tour guide was fantastic! He kept us going on the tour with Icelandic music, good humor and interesting stories. He even changed up the tour a bit so we could make an additional stop in another town. We saw some great sights and I would highly recommend this tour to other travelers.
Our tour guide was fun and knowledgeable about the area. He also shared local modern music and interesting facts about the artists. This helped on the driving stretches. We got lucky with clear dry weather. We actually were able to touch a glacier after a hike. Worth every step! The black sand beach and restaurant were really impressive (but very windy). You get to see the rock formation that influenced the church Architectute in Rvk there. At the restaurant, there is more than the sandwiches you see coming in, so look for the sign on the wall and the wagon outdid. There is an island that we were drives to the top and had the best views of two glacier valleys that are now farm lands. The lighthouse there is not open to go in, but the views are amazing!
I would take this and the Golden circle tours if this is your first time to Iceland. In future visits I would consider getting a car and driving at my own pace. Through the stops were well timed, we had a family that was always late leaving each stop which cut short the waterfall visits on the way back. Bring your full rain gear. Umbrellas and ponchos will not help when going near or behind the waterfall. Also bring a wet bag for your wet cloths. Hooded jackets are also recommended if rain is a possibility.
