Overview

Rumble through the otherworldly Icelandic wilderness on a 1-hour quad bike adventure from Reykjavik. Cruise along gravel tracks to the shores of Hafravatn lake, and get your heart pumping as you speed up to the summit of Mt Hafrafell. Take in sweeping views of Reykjavík and mythical-seeming mountain ranges in the distance before  you make you way back down safely. Ride solo (1-seater) on one of the sturdy all-terrain vehicles or partner up with a friend or family member on a 2-seater bike. All gear and round-trip transportation from Reykjavik hotels are included.
  • 1 full hour of adrenaline pumping action out on the trails, led by an expert guide
  • Panoramic views over Reykjavik and the Reykjanes Peninsula
  • Bounce along gravel roads by Hafravatn, a tranquil lake just outside of the city
  • Speed up Hafrafell mountain
  • Select from a 1- or 2-seater quad bike
  • Gear included: overalls, rain jacket, helmet, balaclavas and gloves
  • Round-trip transportation from Reykjavik
After morning pickup at your Reykjavik hotel, watch signs of civilization recede into the lunar-like landscape on the short drive to base camp. Meet your experienced guide and prepare for the adventure with a protective helmet, gloves and warm overalls. If you opted for a 2-seater quad bike, decide who will take the wheel. No experience is necessary, as all drivers will get an orientation to the bike’s controls and take a practice spin around a safe area to get comfortable.

Once ready, set off with your guide in a convoy, first along paved roads that wind through the open grasslands surrounding the city outskirts. Turn off onto gravel tracks and make your way to the shores of Hafravatn lake, where you can admire the glassy surface framed by snow-capped peaks in the distance.

Feel the true power of your bike’s off-road capabilities as you climb the rocky slopes of Mt Hafrafell. From the summit, enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the capital below, surrounded by sweeping stretches of grassland and icy ranges. Get an adrenaline rush as you cruise down the mountain tracks and back to base camp.

Relax in the transfer vehicle on the drive back to your Reykjavik hotel, where your 1-hour ride concludes.

Exceptional! We went to the Blue Lagoon in the morning and returned at 2:30pm, looking for something to fill the afternoon we called the Viator agent to see if she can arrange a late pickup for this 3 hour excursion. Yay! She found a company to accommodate us! Our guide was GREAT! The experience was exciting! The other travelers on our Blue Lagoon tour asked me about this experience as they too had extra time in the afternoon the following day after their early tour. This should really be offered by the other tour companies for those travelers that want to experience all that Iceland has to offer!

This was the highlight of our stay in Iceland our Guide was called James and he was second to none he took the time to talk with us,was great at the tour and was kind enough to advice us on good restaurants. Couldn't fault this activity at all and we were lucky enough to have a small group so got to have a longer trip, would recommend to anyone, thank you Guys

Fantastic first morning in Reykjavik! The safari was breathtaking. The landscape up on the mountain was completely surreal and moon-like, much more beautiful than I was expecting. I was worried an hour wouldn't be long enough but it was absolutely enough time. It was definately a full hour out on the quads, with plenty of time either side for getting into the gear and getting prepared. Our tour guide Leif was a real gem, friendly, laid back but professional and gave us some great Iceland tips as well. The absolute best thing to do as soon as you get to Reykjavik!

The was a brilliant couple of hours, our guides Alex and Leif were brilliant and very patient! Especially as I has never driven a Quad Bike before and was about 10 minutes behind the rest of the group with Leif! Our 14 year old and 9 year old loved every minute of it. Thank you to Alex and Leif for an experience we won't forget.

This tour was awesome! Our guide Indy was very knowledgeable and courteous. 3 out of four of us in my group had never been on an ATV and he made sure we were comfortable before we set off. I would definitely book this again on a future visit.

This was one of the best ATV tours that my husband and I have ever been on. We've done similar tours in the Caribbean and Hawaii. However, this was actually an adventure. We took the ATVs up a steep, muddy, icy hill and when at the top you could see the whole city of Reykjavik and surrounding mountains covered in snow. It was quite breathtaking. The ride down was just as treacherous but in a fun way. If you like riding this vehicles then you will so enjoy this trip.
