This 4-hour guided Nordic ski tour offers you a different way to experience the Massif du Sud Regional Park, while enjoying outdoor winter fun and low-impact exercise. No experience is needed for this sport.
Nordic backcountry skiing, invented by Northerners, allows you to move easily in snowy areas. The skis are between the types you’d find in cross-country and downhill skiing: with a width between 60 and 110mm, Nordic skis have an anti-rollback with scales and are provided with edges. In addition, you can add a climbing skin for ascents. The binding allows for a heel-free position.
Make your own way to the main lodge, the meeting point, or upgrade to include transport from your hotel in Quebec City. Upon arrival, you’ll receive a safety briefing and instruction. With the provided skis, boots, and trekking poles, practice the simple-to-follow techniques to get you out on the trail.
Then, set off after your guide in the quiet, snowy landscape. The route begins on a cross-country ski trail, and then you’ll make your own path in the undergrowth, which eventually leads you to a shelter for a meal. Along the way, stop for photos and rest breaks, and with the help of your guide, watch for signs of deer, moose, squirrel, porcupine and other creatures that inhabit the area.
