Your tour begins at your Porto hotel, where you’ll board an air-conditioned minivan destined to explore the UNESCO-listed beauty of northern Portugal’s capital.
During a panoramic tour of the historic center, you’ll see top attractions such as Avenida dos Aliados, a bustling boulevard that sprawls from the City Hall down to Liberdade Square, and the famous Lello’s bookshop. Admire Porto Se Cathedral, the city’s oldest surviving structure, and pass Torres & Igreja dos Clerigos, considered the city’s architectural symbol. In the vehicle, your guide provides history-rich commentary designed to enhance your understanding of Porto.
Then, disembark your vehicle at the port and climb aboard a boat for a short cruise on the Douro River. Cruise beneath Porto’s famous six bridges, the crowning feature of which is Ponte de Don Luis I, and enjoy a picturesque perspective of the city from the river.
Your final stop is at a port wine cellar in Vila Nova de Gaia, where you’ll enjoy a guided tour before you pleasure your palate with wine samples. Bid your guide farewell after drop off at your Porto hotel.
Tiago was a wonderful tour guide...very knowledgeable and personal. We had a group of 4 of us and it really personalized the trip. They picked us up right at our hotel. The river cruise is actually not a part of the 4 hours, but rather they give you a voucher to use at another time in the future.
A must do. Ricardo showed us around Porto starting with the centre Cathedral and entertained us with the history of Porto. It really helped put the monuments into perspective. I absolutely love Porto. Later we crossed the river for the wine tasting. The interior was very modern and I was feeling a little disappointed until our guide opened the doors and we were led into the cellar area. Wow, what an experience. Our guide spoke in both Spanish and English and was an absolute delight. We tasted a couple of wines and learnt about Port. Then Ricardo gave us a voucher for the cruise, which didnt disappoint. A wonderful tour to start your visit to Porto.
Loved this tour. Sofia was very good and I have already highly recommended her to a couple of friends going to Porto. Great time- excellent value.
Porto is an amazing city! Great tour!
What an experience! Our tour guide Christian was amazing. Besides speaking multiple languages, he was extremely knowledgeable and mindful of our individual needs. In addition to the bus and walking tour of Porto, we were treated to a wine tasting. Our tour guide there was also very knowledgeable. We loved Porto and would definitely recommend Viator.
Porto has much to enjoy and be part of as a tourist. Our guide could project his voice better and give more attention to the explanations he is trying to express. The cruise was not really connected to the tour and was not well coordinated . Porto is a vivid city with an obvious desire to showcase to tourists.
Porto was spectacular and the 6 bridge cruise was excellent. Our guide took us to the Cathedral, railway station to show us the Azul blue tiles depicting historic scenes. I had seen the station in Michael Portillo's Great European Rail Journeys but to see them close up was magnificent. The visit to Cockburn's winery was also fantastic and for those people who know nothing about the wine trade you will be fascinated. My purpose for visiting Porto was to follow the historical trading treaty with Britain which is unbroken for over 600yrs hence the major British influence in the Porto area. The barrels of wine were transported to Bristol and stored in limestone caves dug into a cliff. Make sure you are fit because the roads to the river valley are very steep. Our guide drove us to the riverside but getting back can be exhausting so use the funicular rail to get to the top and if you are on the other side of the river the cable car is the best way to get back to the top.
