Christmas Day Trip to Vaux le Vicomte from Paris

See the beautiful Christmas tree at Vaux-le-Vicomte

Meet your comfortable coach in central Paris for the drive out of the city center toward the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte. The castle is only 35 miles (55 km) from Paris, making it an easy and memorable day trip.
The Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte was built in the late 1600s, and is one of the most beautiful castles in the country. It’s fantastic to see at any point in the year, but at Christmas the lights and decorations add an extra layer of beauty.
Spend time admiring the interior of the castle, with antique furniture, tapestries and art as it was when this was a private home. As you try to imagine what daily life might have been like, your kids can play dress-up with some period costumes to really get into the spirit of the adventure.
Tour the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte with an audio guide to lead the way, and then walk through the lovely gardens on your own, admiring the Christmas lights and decorations throughout.
Should you get hungry, visit the restaurant at the chateau where you can choose from a selection of light meals (own expense) before heading back to your coach for the return trip to Paris at the conclusion of your tour.

Wonderful trip, an amazing Chateau and the Christmas decorations were incredible. Garden spectacular. Bus driver was good and excellent driving skills given the amount of traffic to get out of Paris. We would recommend this trip to one of the best Chateaus in France.

A great idea for a day trip to do something Christmas-y around Paris. The castle has a nice manicured and decorated garden, a small pen with donkeys, and the castle has 17th century decorations. The only draw back is that is takes about 1-1.5 hours to get there on the bus and you only get about 1 hour to wander around so we did feel rushed. It is easy to find the meet-up point as it is right in front of the Paris City Vision storefront.

I think this trip has to be a half hour later so we can get to se the castle with the night light as it shows on the picture or give a half hour more to see that. Besides the garden is so big that you need time to go around.

You do not have enough time to see the vaux le vicomte. It takes so long to get there you barely have an hour to see the place . You need to make the time at the place longer. You cannot tour the place and make it back out in time to meet at the bus.

I was very disappointed that we had to leave before it was dark outside and that we did not get a chance to see the outside lights as advertised. This was the reason we went on the tour. The ad is misleading!!

It's a decent half day trip if you have already visited Versailles or it is closed.

2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better January 2014

A lovely afternoon but is was a shame to leave before it turned dark as we were unable to see the lights.
The return journey took 2 hours due to heavy traffic.
