Meet your guide and small group of no more than 8 on the Esplanade de l’Europe in central Montpellier and hop aboard an air-conditioned minivan. Admire the views as you drive out of the city and wind through the vineyards, as your guide offers an introduction to the region’s long history of wine production.
The first destination of the day is a 14th-century château and wine estate that offers spectacular views over the Grès de Montpellier. After exploring the castle grounds and strolling through the vineyards, pause to sample some of its fine wines, and learn more about the region’s unique ‘terroir’ and its importance in producing quality wines.
Continue to a second château to tour the family-owned winery, admire the 18th-century architecture, and of course, taste its exceptional range of red, white, and rosé wines.
Stop for lunch at the Château de Flaugergues restaurant, where you can tuck into a delicious 3-course lunch of gourmet French cuisine, followed by a third wine tasting and a walk through the magnificent castle gardens.
Finally, pay a visit to a more modern wine château, nestled amid shady olive groves and rolling vineyards, and enjoy the final wine tasting of the day, as well as admiring the striking exhibition of hand-painted oak barrels.
After a full day of wine, cuisine and ‘bonheur’, return to Montpellier, where your tour ends back at the Esplanade de l’Europe.
