Why Travellers Choose This Tour

This 9-hour tour takes you deep into rural Provence, where life ticks by at an altogether slower pace. During your day, spend time in the delightful village of Gorges — widely considered the prettiest village in France!
Your 9-hour tour begins in the morning at Marseille’s Old Port. There, you’ll meet your guide and embark on the northbound journey to the beautiful Luberon region, an area composed of rolling hills, hilltop drystone villages and endless fields of lavender.

Stop first in l’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue to stroll the riverside and browse local antique shops, art galleries, boutiques and cafés, followed by Gordes, widely considered one of France’s most beautiful villages. Tumbling down the hillside, the white stone town of Gordes offers spectacular views of the Luberon plain.

Next, head to Bonnieux, a lovely village known for its medieval Roman-Gothic Vielle Église (Old Church) and its surrounding patchwork of vineyards and orchards. From here, you’ll follow the Combe of Lourmarin, a verdant river valley that splits the Luberon mountain range. Stop in the picturesque town of Lourmarin to have some lunch (own expense) and view the town’s Renaissance castle, dubbed the Villa Medicis de Provence.

After lunch, head to the medieval Senanque Abbey –  situated amidst a sea of lavender – for photos (stop only included from June 15 to July 15). Then enjoy some free time in the village of Fontaine de Vaucluse.

Your final stop is Roussillon for an unforgettable look at the region’s famous ochre cliffs, painted in swathes of red and yellow. Grab any last souvenirs before heading back to Marseille. Your coach returns to the departure point at Marseille’s Old Port in the evening.

Please note: As the markets only take place in the morning, the itinerary order may change.

Beautiful, comprehensive tour which allowed plenty of time at each location. A must do if you are in Marseille.

Amazing trip and a beautiful day through the small villages. Our guide stopped to see some of the lavender fields at our expressed interest. Our guide was also very attentive, kind, and informative. Great day trip... small shops, quaint villages, antiques and flea market, beautiful views.

This was a tour that was well worth the money, Guide Benjamin was fun, informative, and flexible. Lavender had been harvested the day before our trip ,but he went out of his way to find one for us and to take our pictures. Number of villages and timimimg at stops was very good. Just a perfect day!

This was the absolute most beautiful day. I traveled to France for my 30th birthday alone and this was the tour I chose for my actual birthday. I have never experienced such beautiful sights, and we saw a quaint street market where I made several purchases for myself and for souvenirs. I recommend this tour to everyone who considers France!

A very enjoyable tour overall visiting a number of hilltop villages, very picturesque and beautiful views. It was a small group tour, 6 people plus the guide, who was very knowledgeable, approachable and spoke excellent English. We had sufficient time in each location, except perhaps where we had lunch as there was really only enough time to have lunch, another half hour on the lunch stop would have been good. Pick up was on time. Only thing I would say is I thought it was a little expensive for what it was, but if you're happy with the price I would certainly recommend it.

Our guide arrived punctually at the pick-up point. She explained where we going and what we would see at Isle-sur-la Sorgue, the Lavender Museum, Gordes, Roussillon and Lourmarin. Her English was good and she would answer any question posed during the day. At every location she would drop us off, allowing us time to explore at our own pace, and then she would pick us up at a pre-arranged time.

We had started early, 8am on a Sunday, to visit the market at Sorgue. Both the antique and produce markets were interesting as well as the many water wheels on the water channels running through the town. Our tip is to amble through the antique and bric-a-brac markets and then go to the Tourist Office where you can get a free local map which shows a scenic walking tour of the town. We only discovered this by chance and managed only part of the route.

Gordes is a small picturesque village perched on a cliff. We stopped just outside at a viewpoint to take pictures. Our tip is to buy a take away sandwich from the shop at the entrance to the village you can eat it at the tables outside the shop.

The ochre quarry at Rousillon is spectacular, which our guide
recommended, and you will have just enough time to do the short Ochre Trail.

The whole day was excellent.

Great trip and Cedric was a great guide - good humoured and unflappable despite having to cope with horrendous traffic jams resulting from a forest fire, and having to rearrange our schedule. He really went the extra mile for us - literally - to make sure we were all happy! Thank you cedric for a great day.

Very very pleasant. Many of us were there more to see the lavender fields and our driver tried diligently to find us some. Due to the hot weather it had all been recently harvested. but he did try and ended up stopping at some sunflower fields for us.
a little more history would have been nice, but all in all a nice day out and some gorgeous and delightful places to be shown.
