Why Our Insiders Chose This Tour

What You Can Expect

Copenhagen Canal Tour

Relax on your Copenhagen sightseeing cruise as you pass through the neighborhood of Christianshavn

Make your own way to the cruise jetty in central Copenhagen in time for your preferred departure slot.

Step aboard your boat and find a comfortable spot in the saloon or on the outdoor deck for your 1-hour journey. Then, sit back and take in the picturesque sights as you glide along Copenhagen’s canals and harbor waters. These pretty waterways weave through the history-steeped center, so every turn and twist reveals a new, photo-worthy sight.

Watch for must-sees such as the Little Mermaid statue, inspired by the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale; and as you cruise, learn about Copenhagen’s rich history from the onboard guide, who will share illuminating facts and background on the sights.

Drift by the Amalienborg Palace – the winter residence of Denmark’s royals since the 1700s – and pass Copenhagen Opera House, a stunning contemporary building that stands imperiously on the harborside.

Cruise around the pretty canals of Christianshavn, with its cobbled streets, pastel-colored houses and old warehouses. Admire the area’s lovely landmarks, such as the Church of Our Saviour with its winding-staircase spire, and hear how King Christian IV established the district in the 1600s as part of his plans to fortify Copenhagen.

Pass a host of other famous buildings, and snap pictures of the Old Stock Exchange, famous for its unusual spire, as you sail by the island of Slotsholmen in the city center.

Finally, return to the starting jetty at either Nyhavn or Gammel Strand, where your cruise finishes.

We had a group of seven adults during this tour and it was exactly as described. We had great weather and the trip was relaxed and worth the time and minor expense. Our guide and captain were very nice and made sure everyone was comfortable. The vessel has windows so that you protect yourself from getting soaked during certain parts when they get crosswinds. I also recommend sitting in the front (uncovered) to have unobstructed views of the canals and landmarks along the way. Other friends who sat towards the back, could not hear the tour guide due to the noise from the boat's motor. Our tour guide made sure to let us know when to move to the covered area so that we wouldn't get soaked. She even had a towel to dry the seats once the

This is a very nice and probably the best way to get to know the city and it's history from the water. We were amazed by the wonderful architecture and enjoyed knowledgeable guidance of our tour guide in pleasant atmosphere.

This tour was comprehensive, we left on time and saw everything we expected to see. It's well worth it because you see a different aspect of Copenhagen from the water. It was raining continuously but there were blinds we could use for protection. It's a good way to see all the city but from a different viewpoint, and good value

Outstanding excursion! The perfect way to get to see and know your way around Copenhagen. Excellent value, in fact better than excellent. Do yourself a great favour and take an excursion as one of your first outings in the Danish capital. Boat was warm and dry for our winter tour. And the guide provides a really informative and entertaining commentary.

We booked our canal tour with viator. Actually it would not have been necessary. There are many canal tours scheduled and the best option is to go with your group first thing in the morning half hour before the tour and wait for a place. The later in the morning and day of course the less your chances are to get a place for everyone on the same boat if you are a group. we were 7 persons. one or two persons will not have any problems getting a space but you will always have to wait for a certain amount of time.
The tour guide on the canal tour was excellent! He gave a very good overview and interesting historical points that are more likely to stick in one's memory. The canal tour is a must for Copenhagen - a great way to get a general feeling and lay out of this wonderful and historical place.
