This guided, 2-day tour from Jerusalem to Petra travels across the Israeli border into Jordan, an Arab nation on the east bank of the Jordan River defined by ancient monuments, nature reserves and seaside resorts. Visit some of their archaeological treasures, namely Petra, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. This tour includes overnight accommodation in Petra plus all transportation, transfers and entrance fees.
Day 1 — This 2-day tour begins with an early morning hotel pickup in Jerusalem, then it’s a 2-hour drive north, through the Jordan Valley to the border of Jordan via the Allenby Bridge. Pass through the passport registration region and retrieve luggage. A transfer will be made available to a 4-star Petra accommodation for the remainder of the day and evening. Explore the city at leisure before retiring for the night.
Day 2 — Enjoy the visit to ancient Petra, one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
The city was carved into the mountains by Nabataean Arabs some 2,000 years ago and continues as one of the most famous archeological sites in the world. On this guided tour, walk or take a short horse ride through the Siq, the main road that leads to the city. The Siq leads to Petra’s most magnificent, jaw-dropping façade — the Treasury, or Al Khazna. It is over 130 feet high and a marvel to witness. Bring a camera to capture this incredible spectacle. There are a seemingly endless number of locations to behold at Petra: the Dam, the Street of Facades, the Colonnaded Street, the Theater, the Great Temple, the various tombs and much more.
The tour ends with a return trip to the Israel-Jordan border and then back to Jerusalem.
