Your guide will pick you up from your Ayers Rock Resort hotel in the early afternoon. Travel for approx. 45 minutes in an air-conditioned, comfortable 4WD vehicle across the central Australian desert to Mt Conner, located on Curtin Springs station. Look out for Australian wildlife such as red kangaroos, dingoes and wallabies on the way.
Once at Curtin Springs station, your off-road adventure begins! Drive past an inland salt lake and hear from your knowledgeable guide about European settlements and the history of this area. Drive around the back of Mt Conner and see how the landscape changes. After approx. 1.5 hours, you’ll arrive at the best spot to watch the sun set. Sip a glass of sparkling wine and keep your camera handy for that classic sunset picture. The desert and the enormous horse-shoe shaped mesa of Mt Conner glows with dramatic red, orange and violet shades of colour as the sun sets.
As night descends and the stars come out, head back to nearby Curtin Springs station for a delicious, authentic three course outback dinner. After dessert, your guide will return you to your Ayers Rock Resort hotel.
The tour guide was excellent. Favourite part of this tour was the salt lake. Would have been great to walk around the base of the rock. Dinner was very good.
The guide was very good, but I'm don't feel the scenery was worth the time and cost. The whole experience would have been elevated by a good dinner. You would think that a Cattle Station ranch could select and cook a great steak. Not so. A poor cut of beef, cooked in a frying pan does make for a good experience. Add in flies and sitting outside with no breeze, dinner was a dud. Maybe this tour should be a two star.

Although we had expected to get near Mount Connor, we did not. The sunset was not as beautiful as Uluru . It was more of a photographer's trip so if you did not bring your camera equipment, it can get boring. We did stop to see a few animals but that was about it.
