After morning pickup from your central Auckland accommodation, ride in a comfortable vehicle to Waitakere Ranges Regional Park, a scenic drive that takes roughly 30 minutes.
Stop first at the Arataki Visitor Centre, which offers sweeping views of Auckland. Then learn about Maori traditions, and see native plants and wildlife including the Kauri tree and the weta, flightless insects that are endemic to New Zealand.
Next up, take an easy walk into the bush that takes you to one of Piha’s cascading waterfalls. Look for native wildlife such as the New Zealand longfin eel, and birds like the kereru and pukeko.
Continue to the Piha coast, stopping at a famous lookout point that offers great photo ops. Head down to the beach for your 2-hour surf lesson.
Your qualified surfing instructor provides a full safety briefing before starting your lesson on the beach. Learn the basics of paddling out, catching waves, water safety, and more, during a lesson that includes all necessary surf equipment. Simply bring your own swim gear and towel.
Your tour ends with return to your Auckland hotel in the afternoon.
