Cities and towns across America offer walking and bus tours to get to know their space better, but this unique Segway tour provides an entirely new perspective on the city of Atlanta.
Riding a Segway isn’t difficult, but it’s important to know how to maneuver one, especially gliding around a busy city like Atlanta. So this tour begins at the American Hotel with a brief but thorough training session to make sure everyone feels comfortable and knowledgeable about their Segway. Additionally, all passengers must weigh between 100 and 300 pounds to participate.
With the training out of the way, it’s time to hit the open road.
On this 2.5-hour Segway tour around midtown Atlanta, cruise past the business district’s skyscrapers and the affluent neighborhood of Ansley Park to admire the variety of beautiful homes. Then glide through part of popular Piedmont Park, whose history spans the course of nearly two centuries. This 189-acre urban park includes paved walking and biking paths, event space, picnic areas and playgrounds. Not far from here is the beautiful Atlanta Botanical Garden, with 30 acres of plants, art exhibits, fountains and more.
Make a stop at the Margaret Mitchell House and Museum, a historic house museum where Margaret Mitchell wrote the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, Gone With the Wind. Across the street is the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, the sixth Federal Reserve District comprising Alabama, Florida, Georgia, parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. Also nearby is the Georgia Institute of Technology, one of the world's top technological research universities.
Roll past the Fox Theater, a former movie palace that now serves as a performing arts venue and the restaurant district, to learn where the best spots are to eat and drink. Then see Centennial Olympic Park, home of the 1996 Summer Olympics; the Georgia Aquarium, with tens of thousands of animals and 10 million gallons of water and the World of Coca-Cola, a museum showcasing the history of the Coca-Cola Company with a number of attractions and entertainment options.
Finally, return to the downtown starting point, the American Hotel.

This was a long tour for the price. John and CK were our guides and half way through they split us 9 into 2 groups and we stayed with John. My friend had never ridden a Segway before and was a little worried. She has 2 titanium knees and needed to stop once just to sit for a minute. John was very accomodating that way. They also did more training than most Segway shops this was my 6th or 7th time. Safety was stressed and they pointed out things along the way in that regard. The sites were nice and John's knowledge was thorough, his attitude good and demeanor very upbeat. CK was also upbeat and a great guy.

Laura did an excellent job on this tour. Blended some history with great recommendations for food and entertainment. Great way get a feel for this part of the city. If your son or daughter are considering Georgia Tech, nice way to get a feel for this area of Atlanta. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because, honestly, there is just that not much to see history-wise in mid-town Atlanta compared to other cities. The tour and company were definitely 5 starts though.

Can't fault this tour in any way. Guides were fantastic in showing everyone how to use the Segway. Then travelled around the town with very informative information about all the sites we saw. Actually took all three tours during the 10 days I was there. Recomnend it to all that travel to Atlanta.

Fantastic experience - riding through the down, across streets, weaving through pedestrians. We felt like we got into the nooks and crannies of Atlanta. How do you take a bunch of senior citizen types like us and get them all very comfortable on a segway pretty darn fast and then have them whisking all over town? Try this - and you'll find out! We're hooked - wonderful fun!

It was a good tour to take before going to the main attractions in Atlanta, just to know where things are and where to go. CK was our tour guide and he was alot of fun and energetic! I actually went to the Fox theater and saw a show after he showed and explained it to us. I am in love with the pencil building in Atlanta now that I know the story behind it. Thanks CK

Laura ensured that we had a very enjoyable tour around Atlanta. We started with about 30mins of practise, which was very important to those of us who were very nervous and had never been on a Segway - don't be nervous, Laura gave me the confidence to start the tour, even if I was not confident. We started slowly with a tour of the Olympic park both to get into the sites as well as gain confidence. We have hen set off on a long tour of midtown seeing all the sites and getting a great commentary as we went round. Three hours later we we finished with a great recommendation for a place to have a cold beer. Not often do I go home with a large smile on my face, but it's still there

A great experience. Friendly, knowledgeable guide. Excellent instruction provided for new segway riders- plenty of time to practice and a lot of attention to be sure the ride was fun and safe. A cool way to see many neighborhoods up close!

Highly recommended. Steve was awesome. First he took his time to ensure everyone was comfortable on the segway before heading off. Was very considerate to let the group know when we were stopping, turning and what to watch out for. Did an amazing tour of the city with some great insight in to some of the city's history. If you have never done a segway tour before, you will love it!
