This waterfront resort is one of Turkey’s liveliest, with hard-partying visitors flocking to the nightclub-lined Bar Street (Haci Mustafa Sokagi). But even if you don’t want to spend your nights dancing until dawn, you’ll still find plenty of ways to keep yourself entertained. See below for our pick of Marmaris’ top nightlife experiences.
While the karaoke bars, live music venues, and dance clubs on Marmaris’ Bar Street and in neighboring Icmeler are no doubt fun, they tend to be geared toward an international crowd. If you’d like to learn more about Turkish culture and customs, one of the best places to do so is at a folklore-themed night show. Many of these performances include traditional Anatolian music, as well as belly dancers, and fire and drum spectacles.
Savor Marmaris’ nightlife scene during a traditional Turkish night out. Enjoy a feast-like array of Turkish fare, beginning with meze (small sharing plates), followed by a typical Turkish main course, such as grilled chicken with rice. Many dinner experiences in Marmaris include shows with costumed performers providing traditional entertainment as guests tuck into the food.
Sightseeing by Night
Avoid the crowds and midday heat by touring Marmaris’ major sites after dark. After watching the Mediterranean sunset from Long Beach, stroll along the picturesque Marmaris Marina. Watch the boats bobbing in the water and look back at the impressive Marmaris Castle, which dates back to the 16th century. The atmospheric streets of the old town are also great for after-dark strolls, with many traditional buildings located here.
