Welcome to the largest ski station in Chamonix! Les Grands Montets is located 3300 meters high up on Aiguille Verte and is one of the best skiing areas in the world, thanks to a 2000 meters vertical drop – the highest in the world. Thanks to its north-facing trails, Les Grands Montets benefits from exceptional snow coverage, with late skiing possible well into the month of April. The resort is spread over three slopes, the Argentière glacier, as well as the Lognan and the Pendant peaks, and features two black trails (named Les Pylônes and Point de Vue) and plenty of off-trail possibilities to top it all off. Additionally, there is a snowpark and a boardercross in the Lognan area. There is plenty of hiking trails to explore in the summer, offering splendid access to the rugged and heavily forested area at the foot of Aiguille Verte, with the Alps glaciers as a backdrop.
The cable-car terminal is located in Argentière, 9.5 kilometers north of Chamonix via D1506 and Chemin des Arberons. There is ample parking on-site. The ski resort is open from November to May, with the first ascent being at 9am and last descent at 4:45pm. The lift is also open in the summer for hikers, running every 20 minutes between 7:30am and 4:40pm.
